Low Carb Diets
Posted on 17. Nov, 2008 by admin.
Low carb diets are based on the fact that your body turns carbs into sugar. Some take it a step further such as the Atkins diet which puts your body into ketosis. When this happens, your body will begin to burn fat for food because of the lack of sugar in your body. This type of diet would begin by eliminating all carbs completely at first. You would then gradually introduce carbs back into the diet until you are just at your optimum fat losing pace. Once this level is achieved, you can maintain your diet for a more extended period of time. You do not ever want to completely omit carbs for an extended period of time. Doing so can be dangerous.
When looking at low carb diets you will notice that they all have one thing in common. They work by eliminating things from your diet. This would include starches such as rice and potatoes. They also limit pasta and bread. Most of these diets do not let you have sugar in any amount. These diets have had a good success rate but you need to use them carefully and follow them as precisely as possible to maintain good health.
